TriStar Southern Hills Unveils ‘This Is Us’ Map

TriStar Southern Hills strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of their colleagues and patients regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, or gender, which is why they created the TriStar Southern Hills Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee leverages the voices, experiences and skills of colleagues to foster an inclusive environment where colleagues and patients feel a sense of belonging. The committee facilitates meaningful actions through community outreach, employee engagement and inclusion, patient experience and cultural competence.

The committee recently unveiled their ‘This Is Us’ Map representing the many places of colleagues’ origin. It was created to celebrate the beautiful ethnicities and cultures which unite the Southern Hills team, makes them so unique, and solidify their unbreakable comradery. As new colleagues join the Southern Hills Family, they will take part in the new tradition of pinning their place of origin on the map.

Recently, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee recommended the creation of a directory of colleagues who speak languages other than English to have in-person conversations with patients who also speak other languages. The thought behind the idea was that patients would have a better experience at the hospital when they can speak in their native tongue to a colleague. The Colleague Language Directory is a result of the committee members’ eagerness to help and commitment to patients. Impressively, the directory is made up of over 60 TriStar Southern Hills Colleagues speaking over 35 unique languages.
