A multidisciplinary neonatal team at the University of Tennessee Medical Center researched neonatal Ventilator Acquired Pneumonia (VAP) evidence based literature and developed best practices for the care of the mechanically ventilated neonate. The Neonatal VAP Improvement Team focused upon translating the best evidence into respiratory equipment goals and oral care goals for the mechanically ventilated neonate.
